Difference between LED-Backlit and CCFL-backlit LCD display
In today’s day and age, we come across so many varieties and range of technologies that one needs to know what the best is and the most- user friendly technology that suits our personality. It must fit in our budget and stand out as a masterpiece in our home or office. Today people prefer going in for the LCDs that stand for Liquid crystal display. This is a thin electronic device which makes the use of light crystal technology in order to modulate the lighting of the screen. LED stands for light emitting diodes. And CCFL is the acronym for cold cathode ray lamp. Now that we are clear on what these acronyms stand for, we must understand what the difference between LED- backlit and CCFL- backlit LCD displays is. LEDs come in two forms: one which makes use of the RGB dynamic LED, which is positioned behind the panel of the television and the other, is the edge display which positions the LEDs at the rim of the TV panel.
CCFL- backlit LCD display uses a cold cathode ray which works through the emission of electron from a cathode ray tube. The main difference between these technologies is that it has a longer life. An LED-backlit LCD display is of great use because it saves the consumption of power and compared to the LCD based on CCFL starts dimming after certain years of use. And so it loses its brightness through the years. But they are very eco- friendly and save the power consumed by most of the LCD displays which are much more than what the LED backlit technology consumes. Secondly, the former can produce a greater dynamic contrast and enhance the image quality and bring depth, and provide original and natural color to the screen. The latter is not capable of doing this and so is not considered to be the best when compared with the first one. The RGB dynamic lighting used in LEDs provides a gamut of colors which illuminates the pixels on the LCD so brilliantly that details of every image are sharp and lucid.
To add to it, the LED-backlit LCD displays which make use of the edge lit LEDS are a rage in the market today. The reason being, they add to the depth of any image. These edge-lit LEDs are slim and trendy and people, who prefer to buy sleeker gadgets, find these perfect. Along with so many features, the best part is that the LED- backlit LCD display televisions emit lesser amounts of radiation and produce much less pollution when being manufactured. This means they are eco friendly and hence, a sort after buy. The main Difference between LED-Backlit and CCFL-backlit LCD displays can also be the cost. The only difference is that the cost of the LED backlit LCD display is that, it is priced higher in the market than the normal CCFL LCD displays. Most of the big brand names in the television manufacturing sector produce both kinds of televisions given the demand from the public.
